The eighth commandment reaches further than taking an object that belongs to someone else. Ben and Simon explore honesty in work, money, time and responsibility, alongside the biblical call to generosity and faithful stewardship. The conversation considers tithes, giving and the danger of using religion to manipulate people financially. At the cross we remember that salvation cannot be bought and that everything entrusted to us belongs ultimately to God. The Christian alternative to stealing is not merely keeping our hands clean; it is becoming honest, hardworking and ready to share.

Key teaching points
Theft has many forms
Dishonest work, withheld wages, false claims, exploitation and taking credit can violate the command even when no object changes hands.
Work can become worship
Ephesians replaces stealing with honest labour and generosity, turning our capacity to earn into an opportunity to serve.
Giving must not become manipulation
Biblical generosity is willing and worshipful. It should never be driven by pressure, false promises or spiritual fear.
The cross confronts ownership
Grace reminds us that life and salvation are gifts. We are stewards, not absolute owners, of what God has placed in our hands.
