NIV Scripture

Matthew 6:9–13

“This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’”

Matthew 6:9–13 (NIV)

Our Father in heaven

Prayer begins with relationship. Jesus teaches us to come near to God as children who are known, loved, and welcomed.

Your kingdom come

This is a prayer of surrender. We invite God’s rule, peace, justice, and mercy into our hearts, homes, and daily decisions.

Give us today our daily bread

Jesus reminds us to trust God for what we need today. Provision is not only material, but also spiritual strength, wisdom, and grace.

Forgive us our debts

The Lord’s Prayer leads us into mercy. We receive forgiveness from God and extend that same grace to others.

Lead us not into temptation

We ask for protection, discernment, and courage. God is faithful to guide us away from what harms the soul and toward what gives life.

Deliver us from the evil one

This closing plea is a declaration of trust. God is our refuge, defender, and peace in every spiritual battle.
