The sixth commandment declares the God-given value of human life. Ben and Simon move beyond the obvious prohibition of murder to Jesus’ searching teaching about anger, contempt and broken relationships. Words can dehumanise, resentment can take root, and revenge can quietly shape the heart long before violence appears. The call of Christ is not passive avoidance but active peacemaking: tell the truth, pursue reconciliation where possible, refuse vengeance and treat every person as someone made in God’s image.
